As Head of Maritime Directors Office, you will have a varied and cross cutting role which will include working with a high degree of autonomy, problem solving and driving progress on a range of business management and corporate activities.
You will work closely with the Maritime Director and the Senior Management Team, to set the direction and lead the coordination and delivery of Maritime Directorate corporate responsibilities and functions. This includes being proactive and using your initiative to support the effective functioning of the Senior Management Team.
You will be part of the friendly and enthusiastic Business Management Team, and will have line management responsibility for an Office Manager and a PA/Diary Manager, and leadership responsibility for part of the wider Maritime business management team and Directors Office.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the office of the Director, supporting them in executing their duties, including acting as the first point of contact and working closely with the Director-General’s office.
- Working with the Maritime Director and Senior Management team to proactively support the functions and make the Maritime Directorate a great place to work.
- Taking initiative to proactively support the Maritime Director in undertaking their duties, using excellent communication and influencing skills to act on behalf of the Director when needed, and providing clear direction and guidance to the Directorate.
- Aligning Maritime Directorate activity with Aviation, Maritime and Security Director-General Group and wider Department for Transport.
