Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent ICB is offering an exciting opportunity for a Macmillan Palliative Care and End of Life Transformation Leader, working within the End of Life, Long Term Conditions and Frailty Portfolio.

The postholder will provide strategic leadership and oversight to SSOT ICB, working in collaboration with all partners across the Integrated Care System (ICS) to support the statutory core responsibility of ICBs to ensure that system wide accessible high quality, safe palliative and end of life care (PEoLC), tailored to the needs of the individual (Health and Care act 2022) is available for adults, children and young people.

The post is being funded via a 2 year grant agreement from Macmillan Cancer Support and is part of a national programme. Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent ICB would like to invite the successful applicant to attend a 2 day induction training event on the 24thand 25thSeptember to support induction into the role and to meet other Palliative Care and End of Life Transformational Leaders working in other Integrated Care Systems. More information will be given at interview. It would be preferable also, that the successful candidate is able to start in post by the 31stOctober 2024.

The role is a senior post and the roles and responsibilities are broad to reflect this. The postholder will be expected to:

· Provide leadership to the ICS and to identify and deliver the ICB’s statutory responsibilities for PEoLC in line with NHS England’s Statutory Guidance for ICBs.

· To lead, coordinate, and project manage the implementation of strategies and policies

· Undertake partnership working with statutory and non statutory partners working within the field of palliative care and end of life.

· Work across the whole economy in order to redesign, modernise and improve services

· Coproduce plans with people with lived experience and partners to improve outcomes and experience for patients and their carers.

· To communicate internally and externally with partners at all levels of the system

· To oversee and deliver the Palliative Care and End of Life transformation plans for the system and reporting into the programme board on a regular basis to inform on progress and management and mitigation of risk.

The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB)is responsible for planning functions; managing the NHS budget and arranging the provision of health services in the geographical area.

Location - Home based/hybrid working (most of posts). Travel on occasions to a Hub location with at least 1 days notice

New starters are expected to collect IT equipment, from offices in Stoke-on-Trent, and if based at home are required to have appropriate desk/chair/ relevant equipment in compliance with DSE regulations

Posts at Band 8c and above, will take part in the On-call rota, flexible over 7 days, supporting the System Control Centre, with full training provided.
