Summary

This strategically important new role will lead the operational planning and oversight of the Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit’s (NCTU) expanding research portfolio of multicentre clinical trials. You will lead the Unit’s Operations Group, comprising of the leaders of its constituent professional teams, to review, improve and introduce trial processes and unit practices to maximise efficiency. Other responsibilities include coordinating resources and timelines across trial teams, and monitoring study progress. You will also contribute to the generation of new research grant applications.

Excellent communication skills and experience motivating teams and individuals is required, along with operational and change management, strategic and planning skills. Extensive research experience in the design and conduct of clinical trials, with knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements, is essential.

We are a rapidly growing UK Clinical Research Collaboration registered Clinical Trials Unit (www.ukcrc-ctu.org.uk) based in the School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham. Our mission is to conduct top quality, high impact multicentre clinical trials across a range of health areas which will improve health outcomes. We have a broad and expanding portfolio of trials including studies evaluating pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, medical devices, and complex interventions. The post is offered on a fixed-term contract for three years. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

This post can either be fully office-based or open to a hybrid working model with a blended approach of home and office working in line with the University’s agile working framework and NCTU’s operational requirements. Typically, you will work a minimum of 2 - 3 days (pro-rata) per week on the beautiful ‘University Park’ main campus, where you be able to enjoy all the many fantastic university facilities.
