Hours of work: 35 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 10:00am to 6:00pm)

We are looking for a Full-time Children & Young People’s Mentor who will play a direct role in supporting at risk children and young people and guiding them to develop their aspirations.

Mentoring is at the heart of what we do, and we are looking for candidates who are passionate about having a positive impact on our children and young people.

This critical work will involve working alongside children and young people to provide guidance role-modelling to enable them to overcome difficulties and barriers to achieve identified outcomes and reach their full potential.

Through our mentoring approach children and young people are given an opportunity to experience the best possible start in life and lay the foundation for a fulfilling future.

The Role

To act as a mentor working alongside children and young people to provide advice, support, information and role-modelling to enable them to overcome difficulties and barriers in order to achieve identified outcomes and reach their potential. The role will include working closely with other agencies as part of a multi-agency team with families across the continuum of need.

The ideal candidate will have excellent mentoring skills and a positive attitude in working with children and young people with complex needs.

Aspects of the role will include:

• Mentoring children and young people in line with the mentoring plan.
• Plan and deliver age-appropriate structured play and learning on and off site.
• Provide support to the whole family unit with regards to family activities and promotion of family time.
• Providing brief respite for parents.
• Working in partnership with community-based services.
• Encourage participation in learning and activities.
• Remain vigilant to safeguarding.
• Agree plans and measurable outcomes.
