Summary

Job title: Infrastructure Engineer

Based in: Gloucester

Reports to: Technology Project Manager

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum ​





The Role

As an Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for installing, commissioning and supporting network and server infrastructures for the Technology Projects Team; including migrating customers on premises servers into Azure and setting up a small office network to a customer's specification. You will be working with both internal and external customers to ensure projects are successfully delivered within the required timeframes and specifications. The Technology Projects team work closely alongside the Sales and Account teams to recommend products and services for customers' Technology requirements.



Duties and Responsibilities

-Working to Health and Safety legislation and GBE Converges QHSE standards

-Delivering technical server and cloud projects according to specifications and best practice

-Working with virtualisation and cloud technologies including VMware, Hyper V and Azure environments

-Providing updates on the project's progress to the Project Manager and customer

-Developing and maintaining project documentation and knowledgebase

-Providing support to resolve Change Management issues

-Scoping project requirements and producing a Statement of Work documentation

-Collaborating with Account Managers to produce new business proposals and to review customers' existing infrastructures, suggesting areas for modernisation

-Ensuring all time spent on projects is recorded accurately and within our corporate service delivery system

-Arranging meetings with customers to gain sign-off of project deliverables

-Ensuring project handovers are documented and completed, working with colleagues from our service desk to ensure smooth integration

-Ensuring knowledge of technologies/infrastructures is kept up-to-date and relevant, by reading/listening to publish media

-Any other duties specified by your line manager

Person Specification

Essential

-Full UK driving licence

-Excellent communication including verbal, written and presentation skills

-Evidenced experience of working within an IT support environment or for a Managed Service Provider

-At least 1 formal IT qualification for example, AZ-104 or AZ- 801, MD-101 or SC900

-Excellent working knowledge of Windows Server environments and cloud technologies including Intune, Entra ID, DHCP, DNS and Group Policy, PowerShell

-Good working knowledge of Firewalls, Antivirus and Malware configuration

-Ability to work within a team and using own initiative

-Excellent working knowledge of MS 365 Administration​

Desirable

-Experience working on IT Server & Cloud projects involving planning, installation, and documentation

-Experience of active switching and routing, firewalls LAN WAN and WiFi technology.

-ITIL Foundation qualification

-Previous experience of setting up authentication and security methods

-Knowledge of structured and fibre cabling

-Experience of Switching Configuration

-Experience of Wireless Configuration

Working Conditions

The typical working environment will be office locations either at the GBE Converge office in Gloucester or customer offices or site across UK and occasionally the EU. However, you will be expected to travel to and work at various customer sites. The job requires that you can lift and move typical IT equipment (PC's and Laptops) from floor to desk. It is expected that there will be extended periods of time spent using Display Screen Equipment. Whilst at customers' sites, you may be required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
