Summary
Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon
This is a 10 PA post within the Department of Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedics at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. The successful candidate would be expected to offer a full time commitment to elective and emergency paediatric services, including a 1 in 8 on-call rota for trauma in children.
Full participation in a 24 hour, 1 in 8 on call rota. The week day on call commitment comprises of a combined adult and paediatric trauma meeting; a morning acute fracture clinic; an afternoon trauma theatre list in addition to on call out of hours working. The post holder does not have to be resident when on call.
• Dedicated afternoon trauma operating lists occur Monday to Friday, with shared CEPOD lists for out of hours and weekend operating.
• An afternoon fortnightly follow up fracture clinic and additional seasonal (April to October) follow up fracture clinics.
• An elective commitment comprising of weekly elective clinics and 42 Elective theatre lists per year. The elective workload will include patients recruited through out-patient and in-patient referrals.
• The post holder will ideally have a sub interest in limb reconstruction and complex soft tissue knee.
• The post will be 10PAs in the first instance.
