JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am an 83 year old lady living in the Pontypridd area. I have asthma, cellulitis, hypertension, osteoarthritis, ovarian cyst, varicose veins and a hearing impairment. I wear glasses as I have a cataract in my right eye. Due to two falls resulting in a fractured humerus, and I am unable to lift above shoulder height and need assistance to manage showering and personal care. I am mobile with a zimmer frame. I can experience fatigue and shortness of breath on exertion. I enjoy conversations and sharing a laugh. I enjoy TV programmes and soaps.
PURPOSE OF JOB
To provide support and assistant with daily tasks and to help maintain my routine. You will be required to support during the morning.
HOURS OF WORK
5 hours per week, Monday to Friday only
Start time 9AM
RATE OF PAY
£13.50 per hour
Double time on bank holidays
TASKS INVOLVED
· Provide personal care
· Minimal assistance to have a shower daily and wash/brush hair
· Prompt with oral care
· Support with dressing/undressing – ensure appropriate footwear
· Apply emollient and barrier creams
· Encourage raising feet by day
· Ensure falls detector is worn
· Ensure items in sight/reach; tv remote, phone, drink
· Assistance with meal/drink preparation
· Food hygiene support, checking/removing out of date food, food covered appropriately
· Rubbish to be disposed if appropriately, dispose of purple bags and recycling put our weekly
· Remove any hazards seen
· Clean down kitchen and bathroom areas
· Support with bed change and laundry
· Ensure my safety at all times
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
· A calm and patient person
· Someone who is chatty and likes to have a laugh
· Female required due to personal care
· PA to have a mature outlook
· PA living locally would be preferred
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
