Summary


Our Catering department is looking for a part time catering assistant to join our team working in the main hospital restaurant.

These will be rotational shifts covering 07:00 -11:00, 11:00-15:00 and 16:00 - 20:00 Monday - Sunday on a rota basis.

To Assist in the service of food and beverage to a range of customers and undertake general cleaning and food safety duties within the catering department, or other areas of the trust when working on hospitality, as this may require delivery to any part of the hospital.

• Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas;
• Clean or sanitise work areas, utensils, or equipment;
• Clean service and seating areas;
• Check and record temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning, reporting any concerns urgently to supervisors and management;
• Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them, support customers with additional menu information if requested
• Support customers by ensuring access to allergen information or by esclating an allergen issue to supervisor/manager level
• Stock customer service stations with products, disposable items or beverage preparation items;
• Take customer orders and convey them to other employees for preparation;
• Liaise with the production team to ensure food items are replenished in a timely manner
• Take remove refuse or recycling items to the appropiate area;
• Assist in scheduled deep cleans in the catering department;
• Correct usage and dosage of cleaning equipment and chemicals;
• Wrap, label, or date food items for sale or storage;
• Prepares food in an attractive and appetising way according to the supervisors/managers directions and serve the food with a positive and courteous demeanour;
• Addresses immediate customer concerns, questions and needs in order to provide an positive experience, escalating any issues that require a senoir team members response;
• To assist in cleaning duties allocated by senior staff including working in any area of the department;
• Operate a cash register, EPOS system or chip and pin, to handle cash in a safe and efficient manner, working to the local operating procedure.
