Summary

Acorn by Synergie is searching for an Environmental Specialist with working knowledge of key environmental legislation within the oil, gas, chemicals or petrochemicals industry to join their client based in Wigan, Greater Manchester.

Reporting directly to the Process Safety Manager, the purpose of the role is ensure current awareness with relevant environmental issues is maintained through liaison with the relevant organisations.

Duties will include:

* Responsibility for ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, surveillance audits and recertification audits.

* Manage the site environmental permit and prepare any correspondence to the regulator or applications for variations that may be required and reporting of any permit branches.

* Manage waste minimisation plan for 2 sites.

* Provide guidance and support on environmental legislation and internal environmental standards.

* Take responsibility for developing the environmental strategy and environmental performance.

* Work with the quality and health and safety team on improvement projects.

It is essential that the successful candidate has a proven track record in a similar role within a chemical manufacturing environment. Auditing experience and knowledge of ISO 14001 is essential whilst knowledge of ISO 50001 Energy Management would be highly desirable.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday

Salary is dependent on knowledge and experience on offer.
