The Opportunity:

The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies is very excited to offer a part time exotic animal care assistant post covering 17 hours, 3 of which will be on a Saturday morning, the remaining 14 will be spread over two weekday shifts (Thursdays & Fridays) as part of a job share.

We are seeking friendly, experienced and very reliable team members whose goal will be to provide gold standard care to our in-house resident teaching animals.

The job will be based in our Exotic Animal Teaching Facility (EATF) on Easter Bush campus in Midlothian which houses a variety of small mammals, reptiles and birds. Our undergraduate students enjoy working with the teaching technicians to learn about the husbandry, handling and proper care of these species. R(D)SVS is one of the only Veterinary Schools in the UK to have an exotics facility of this size on site, we are extremely proud of this.

The jobholder should have previous experience within an animal care environment, ideally, they should have previous knowledge or a keen interest in exotic species and be able to demonstrate this. Excellent attention to detail and confident animal handling/care abilities are vital in this role.
