Summary


Working as part of a team of Clinical Educators, the successful candidate will be supporting the implementation of NCH&C’s workforce plan and ensuring the development of competencies and skills within the workforce.The role requires supporting apprentices and students in their work placement areas to ensure they achieve the appropriate clinical competencies to practice.Responsibilities may also include supporting International AHP recruitment and induction into the Trust, including supporting with teaching packages.

In addition you will be required to support the delivery of Preceptorship through teaching packages and workshops. There is an expectation that the person will have an awareness of the Practice Assessment Documents appropriate for all learners, to support practice educators and link lecturers with monitoring learner progress and appropriate reviews.

An enthusiastic individual with a passion for clinical education whowill support the development of a learning culture where research, clinical practice, coaching and education are seen as integral to clinical practice and patient safety.

You will need to ensure that the requirements of the HCPC are adhered to and that evidence is collated for our annual self-assessment of the Quality Improvement Education Performance Framework (QIPF)

1. To be the link clinical educator for AHPs where the cohort of apprentices/ learners are working or are on placement. Deliver Preceptorship and clinical skills training to meet the NCH&C’s Clinical Competency framework to both new and existing apprentice staff, and other clinical staff. Provide support and advice to teams on the roles of new staff ensuring patient allocation to meet competency practice.Provide support to new staff and preceptors including International educated staff.Meet with academic link lecturers to ensure apprentices and learners are meeting relevant professional and academic , when issues are identified. Capture feedback from learners and ensure any issues are rectified. Support any apprentice or learner who may be struggling, linking with NCH&C career development team, if appropriate.To provide drop in support sessions and extra clinical sessions to support the apprentices and learners in practice. Support development of clinical supervision required for effective delivery of the workforce plan. Provide staff with appropriate information, advice and guidance relating to the learning opportunities provided within the Trust.Assist in evaluations to inform the provision of future appropriate education and learning programmes.

• Receive and appropriately log any issues or concerns raised by staff and help to ensure that these are resolved effectively and within an appropriate time frame.
• Prepare accurate and precise reports, both verbal and written.

• Base training on relevant national and local information, policies, and guidelines with research based practice.
• Make appropriate use of resources as necessary to fulfil the job objectives.
• Maintain personal standards of conduct and behaviour consistent with NMC professional guidelines.
• Develop protocols, competencies and Standard operating procedures which support the clinical effectiveness of staff.
• Provide support with the other clinical educators for those supervising learners on pre-registration programmes.
• Support new models of working with the Trust Education Lead to deliver the workforce Plan.
• Provide training and support in developing the role of the practice educator through cascade training and skills development.
• Work with HEI’s and other key training personnel in contributing to the audit and smooth working of training programmes.
