Summary

There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced cancer nurse to join our Acute Oncology Service as Nurse Practitioner. This is a permanent Band 6 post at 37.5 hours per week. This is a Macmillan badged post with access to support and educational funding.

The post holder will support the Acute Oncology Services cross-site on a daily basis, ensuring that the teams provide an excellent service to the Trust through evidence based practice, education, policy and guideline development.

You will need to be an experienced cancer nurse with key interest in Acute Oncology Service, energetic and flexible in your approach to work. If you think you have what it takes to join a forward thinking, innovative team committed to the delivery of high quality care then we want to hear from you.

This postholder will be supported to develop the skills, knowledge and experience to deliver the NP role, under the supervision of band 7 NPs.

A NP is a registered nurse with relevant experience and post registration education. During a specific episode, and within their defined area of practice, they assess, manage, deliver and advise on care, offering appropriate support as required.

Clinically a nurse practitioner differs from an advanced nurse practitioner (ANP), as the ANP is expected to work at an advanced level with a wider scope of practice and manage greater clinical complexity with a higher level of decision making.

A NP performs comprehensive clinical examinations of patients in their entirety, inclusive of physical examination of all systems, mental health assessment and remote assessment where appropriate and qualified, within their defined area of clinical practice.

As part of the multidisciplinary team, a NP has the autonomy to act and accept responsibility and accountability for their own actions, acting as an advisor for patients, or a resource for others within their defined area of clinical practice.

At Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care. Become part of a vibrant team living our values - expert, kind, collaborative and aspirational. You’ll get an experience like no other and will fast forward your career.

Benefits include career development, flexible working and wellbeing, staff recognition scheme. Make use of optional benefits including Cycle to work, car lease schemes, season ticket loan or membership options for onsite leisure facilities.

The full job description provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience and knowledge required.
