ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Board of Trustees or His representative.
Main Purpose of the post: To lead and manage the Music Department of the church. To preach and teach the Word of God and to engage in some pastoral role in the absence of assistant pastor.To promote the gospel of Jesus Christ effectively for the benefit of the public within the church organization, worldwide and involved in church planting.
Principal Responsibilities:
- To set the tone and ethos of the Department of Music of the church and to articulate a clear vision and ensuring that the Department of music works towards this vision.
- To inspire and lead the congregation, so that the Choir ensure congregation is motivated and enjoy music that the department provides.
- Planning a diverse programme of concerts and musical events both formal and informal each year to challenge and display the work of choirs, orchestras and bands and to give performing opportunities for all musicians.
- To oversee all the range and quality of orchestras, choirs and ensembles – ensuring rehearsals, staffing and performance opportunities.
- To ensure a diverse range and style of music making is promoted within the Department of Music and that Choir have the opportunity to explore a variety of music genres most especially contemporary Christian music with ability to be able to work as a team.
- To meet regularly with the Church Choir in the Church to develop and implement an overall strategy for the further development of music department.
- To foster links with local and national music organizations.
-To encourage participation in music competitions at all levels both within and outside the church.
-To preach and teach the congregation the Word of God in the absence of the assistant pastor.
-To perform other roles based on demands assigned by the Lead Pastor.
