An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated assistant psychologist to join the Intensive Community Rehabilitation Team (ICRT) as part of Steps to Recovery services in Birmingham and Solihull.
Steps to Recovery services consists of seven inpatient rehabilitation units and the ICRT offering rehabilitation within service users’ homes. The post is a 24-month fixed term post within ICRT. The post holder will join a specialist multidisciplinary team providing intensive, flexible, and holistic support to people with complex psychosis or bipolar disorder. They will be warmly welcomed into a well-established and supportive team of psychologists working across ICCR.
The post holder will be working under the supervision of a clinical psychologist and will receive regular clinical supervision and have access to peer support through the Assistant Psychologists Group and assistant psychologist reflective practice groups. There is a comprehensive CPD training programme.
We welcome applications from individuals with an upper second-class psychology degree who are eligible for graduate membership of the BPS and who are interested in pursuing a career in clinical or counselling psychology.
Within ICRT we use a well coordinated, team-based approach. The successful applicant will be assisting with the delivery and evaluation of psychological services to service users and families within the team. This will include working with individuals, providing structured low-intensity psychological interventions under the supervision of a clinical psychologist. In addition they will support the clinical psychologist in the provision of more complex assessments and therapeutic interventions for individuals, families, and groups. Other tasks will include assisting with the development and delivery of teaching and training packages to other staff groups and the honorary assistant psychologist group.
The post holder will work in conjunction with team members from other disciplines and contribute to multi-disciplinary discussions and meetings. They will also participate in the collection, analysis, and presentation of data for other audit and service evaluation projects within the team.
