Summary


An exciting and dynamic opportunity has become available for a clinical fellow in Rheumatology to join the already progressive and cohesive rheumatology unit based at Watford General, Hemel Hempstead Hospital and St. Albans City Hospital.

The appointee will generally be the first point of contact for inpatient and urgent referrals, liaising with the ward rheumatology consultant as required and will keep up to date with the progress of patients seen as ward referrals who require on-going rheumatology input during their in-patient stay.

The appointee will help manage rheumatology ward inpatients under the care of the Rheumatology team.

The appointee will support the nurse specialist team regarding prescriptions for disease modifying drugs, biologics, zoledronic acid and clinical queries within their scope of knowledge.

There are also opportunities for audit and teaching.

The appointee will assess and manage Rheumatology outpatients and inpatients (including referrals), seeking advice where necessary from the Consultant. The appointee will be responsible for management of those patients and their queries and ensuring all documentation pertaining to those assessments is clear, accurate and completed in a timely manner.

The appointee will support the nurse specialist team regarding prescriptions for disease modifying drugs, biologics, zolendronic acid and clinical queries within their scope of knowledge.

The appointee will participate in the training and teaching of junior medical staff, help with the continuing professional development of other members of the clinical team, and other post-graduate educational activities.

The appointee will participate in audit, continuing medical education/professional development and clinical governance, including presentation and attendance at M &M and Clinical Governance meetings.

The appointee will support the department in management of its patient cohort as required.
