Summary
Inspira is currently recruiting an Enterprise Coordinator in partnership with the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub and the Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC).
This post is fixed term until 31st August 2025 with the possibility of an extension. This is a full time position, however requests for part time hours will also be considered.
Lancashire Careers Hub is part of a national Hub network driven by the Careers and Enterprise company and locally through the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub and Inspira which strengthens the relationship between education and business to ensure Lancashire has the future skilled workforce it needs to support its growing economy.
All the schools and colleges within Lancashire Careers Hub have a shared vision of how they will work together to improve outcomes for the young people in their area.
The Enterprise Coordinators will work with the existing team of Enterprise Coordinators to further embed the Lancashire Careers Hub. The network is part of a Careers and Enterprise Company national Careers Hub network designed to coordinate services and support schools and colleges in delivering high quality careers provision. Lancashire Careers Hub is co-funded in Lancashire by the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub, and the three upper tier local authorities. To-date 162 schools and colleges in Lancashire have signed up to the Lancashire Careers Hub; as an Enterprise Coordinator you will engage senior leaders in a cohort of schools and colleges which may be alternative provision, SEND or mainstream and match them with local strategic leaders from business and industry. You will support them to develop careers and enterprise plans to increase the number of meaningful employer encounters and workplace experiences that young people engage in. This is a fantastic opportunity to become an important part of a national movement working to raise the profile of the network and embedding good practice across Lancashire.
You will be delivering support to a caseload of schools (including special schools and alternative provision) in the Lancashire Careers Hub. The Enterprise Coordinator role sits at the heart of a local community of practice which helps schools improve their careers and enterprise activities and engage with the world of work. You will drive improvements against the eight Gatsby Benchmarks by building and maintaining effective relationships with senior leaders, supporting strategic careers planning and connecting schools with Enterprise Advisers. You will work as part of the wider Careers Hub team.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with senior leaders and Careers professionals in local schools and colleges within the cluster.
• Ensuring the impact the Careers Hub can have on their school or colleges improvement planning and careers strategy is understood and the development needs of each school or college are identified.
• Cascading learning by delivering CPD sessions to school / college and business audiences.
• Undertaking Career Compass audits (https://compass.careersandenterprise.co.uk/info) with schools and colleges, and supporting schools and colleges on their journey to achieving the Gatsby Benchmarks;
• Working with local employers, the self-employed and business groups to recruit volunteer Enterprise Advisers to match with schools and colleges in the required areas;
• Equipping the Enterprise Advisers with the resources, support and contacts that they need to fulfil the role and help them make the best use of the opportunities available;
• Promoting and sharing leading practice across the cluster of schools and colleges;
• Tracking data, evaluating performance and reporting on progress.
About You
The role requires an enthusiastic and determined person who can work independently with a positive, can-do attitude. Strong communication, influencing and engagement skills are essential. The ability to work in an organised manner and coordinate projects is required along with data management and data analysis skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an appreciation of what motivates young people as well as an understanding of employers of different sizes.
A level 4 professional qualification is essential, and a relevant degree, project management or supervisory qualification would be advantageous. Experience and knowledge of the education system and local labour market is essential.
