Summary

Formwork Carpenter

The Role:

To carry out tasks set by site supervisors and gangers to a high and safe standard.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and carry out job-set tasks

  • Ensure have been briefed and understand all relevant risk and method statements
  • Read and interpret site drawings, instructions and plans
  • Create and install timber formwork to support concrete structures
  • Use best/safe practices on all tasks carried out
  • Checks on any equipment that may be used
  • Ensure a safe tidy place of work

Ensure the completion of work is on time

  • Implement best practice procedures
  • Maximise use of own working time
  • Ensure signed up for all permits and briefings before commencing any work

Communication with site management

  • Communicate with the site supervisor on any concerns
  • Feedback to site management with near-miss reporting
  • Ensure to attend all site briefings, forums, and toolbox talks
  • Deputise for conducting briefings and toolbox talks

Key Measures & Targets:

  • Safely carry out tasks set by the site management team or ganger if part of a gang

  • Foreperson/General Foreperson
  • Site Manager
  • Site Operatives
  • Operations Manager

Person Specification:

The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:

Essential

  • Skills and experience of working within a similar role on-site
  • Experience in formwork and shuttering carpentry
  • CSCS (NVQ card)
  • 1 day First Aid
  • H&S awareness
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as using your initiative
  • ½ day environmental awareness

Desirable

  • Either CPCS forward tipping dumper/slinger signaller/ride-on roller/360 excavator
  • NRSWA
  • SSMTS
