Summary
Formwork Carpenter
The Role:
To carry out tasks set by site supervisors and gangers to a high and safe standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and carry out job-set tasks
- Ensure have been briefed and understand all relevant risk and method statements
- Read and interpret site drawings, instructions and plans
- Create and install timber formwork to support concrete structures
- Use best/safe practices on all tasks carried out
- Checks on any equipment that may be used
- Ensure a safe tidy place of work
Ensure the completion of work is on time
- Implement best practice procedures
- Maximise use of own working time
- Ensure signed up for all permits and briefings before commencing any work
Communication with site management
- Communicate with the site supervisor on any concerns
- Feedback to site management with near-miss reporting
- Ensure to attend all site briefings, forums, and toolbox talks
- Deputise for conducting briefings and toolbox talks
Key Measures & Targets:
- Safely carry out tasks set by the site management team or ganger if part of a gang
Key Relationships:
- Foreperson/General Foreperson
- Site Manager
- Site Operatives
- Operations Manager
Person Specification:
The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:
Essential
- Skills and experience of working within a similar role on-site
- Experience in formwork and shuttering carpentry
- CSCS (NVQ card)
- 1 day First Aid
- H&S awareness
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as using your initiative
- ½ day environmental awareness
Desirable
- Either CPCS forward tipping dumper/slinger signaller/ride-on roller/360 excavator
- NRSWA
- SSMTS
