Summary

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Ganger to take on a key supervisory role on our Newcastle city centre project. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing groundworkers on site, ensuring that work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in groundworks to step into a leadership position with ongoing work on a high-profile project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate groundworks teams, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Provide clear direction and leadership to groundworkers, ensuring safety protocols and best practices are followed.
  • Liaise with site management and other trades to ensure smooth operations and communication.
  • Monitor site progress, addressing any issues or delays promptly.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and ensure all work is carried out in compliance with HSE regulations.
  • Assist with the organisation and allocation of resources, including manpower, materials, and equipment.
  • Report daily progress and any site issues to the site manager.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a ganger or in a similar supervisory role.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Strong background in groundworks, with hands-on experience.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans and drawings.
  • SSSTS/SMSTS qualification is preferred.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
