The Opportunity
This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a team of staff in Keele University’s School of Geography, Geology and the Environment. We are particularly looking to build our portfolio of research and education in applied environmental geography to support our research excellence in sustainability science. We welcome applications from geographers and environmental scientists with expertise in applied research relating to hydrology and aquatic ecosystems, soil science, or climate change adaption/mitigation.

The successful candidate will deliver cutting-edge research in the field of applied environmental geography to develop our research themes in sustainable environments and sustainable places. Keele is renowned as a sector leader in research and education for sustainability. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues on cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research in environmental geography to develop your research profile. Recent success in this field includes a £2million Leverhulme Doctoral Scholarships Programme on Sustainable Rural Futures (SURF).

You will have access to well-resourced research laboratories and equipment to support your research and will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research on renewable energy in association with Keele’s Low Carbon Energy Generation Park; including the first UK longitudinal study of biodiversity on solar farms.

You will also deliver teaching in physical and environmental geography, principally for BSc Geography and MSc Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology; and contribute to other environmental undergraduate programmes.

You will have experience in education and research in environmental geography or related fields and will hold a PhD in geography or a cognate discipline.
