Summary

This is a fixed term position for a specialty grade doctor in the Tower Hamlets Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.

The post is available for a minimum of four months with a possible extension to six months.

The post is fixed term with the aim to provide additional psychiatry time whilst we recruit to a substantive 8PA Consultant role within the Emotional and Behavioural team at Greatorex Street Community CAMHS. This is a long-established service for the assessment and treatment of young people up to the age of 18 years, their families and carers living in the borough of Tower Hamlets. The post holder will provide psychiatry provision for the Emotional Behavioural Team, which also includes young people with ADHD and other mental health or psychosocial complexity.

Clinical leadership of the team is provided by a non-medical Clinical Team leader. Senior psychiatry support is currently provided by existing consultants in Tower Hamlets CAMHS, so there is no expectation for the post holder to be acting up in a senior role.

1. Clinical Duties of Post

The role of the specialty grade doctor is to provide psychiatric assessment and treatment where appropriate, contribute a psychiatric perspective, and offer consultation to other professionals.

2. Clinical Leadership and Medical Management

The specialty grade doctor will be invited to work alongside multidisciplinary colleagues to contribute to efficient running of the service. Subject to the provisions of terms and conditions of service, the post holder will be expected to observe the agreed policies of the East London Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and the procedures drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters. The post holder will be expected to adhere to Trust policies.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
