We have an exciting opportunity for a Foundation Programme Coordinator (Maternity Cover) within the Medical Education Team University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

This maternity cover position will be split over 4 days (30.0 hours) to allow for crossover between the current team and flexibility in the job role.

The Medical Education is made up of programme coordinators and the Medical Education Team Leader. The team co-ordinates initiatives related to supporting all junior doctor’s within UHS with their educational and developmental needs and work closely with both internal and external stakeholders of all grades.

We are looking for someone with good communication, organisation skills and the ability to prioritise your workload is essential for this role. You will need to have an accurate and systematic approach to your work and attention to detail. Effective communication skills are crucial as you will liaise with a variety of people including Junior doctors and consultants.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the delivery of the highest quality, safe and sustainable rotations, recruitment, and pastoral care to fellowship doctors and offer advice to departments.
• The post holder will manage several projects to improve recruitment and retention of Trust doctors, liaising with departments and Medical HR.
• Implementation and management of a first-class administration and support service with highly organised and accurate information to successfully support fellowship doctors, Fellowship Programme Directors and departments.

General Duties
• To be the main contact for all departments and HR to confirm rotational placements.
• Confirm funding with departments annually to maintain the correct level of posts.
• Manage Fellowship establishment liaising with Care Groups Managers within the department, identifying and plan for vacancies.
• Ensure robust, timely and high-quality recruitment of fellowship doctors
• To oversee and administer the recruitment and transactions process from advert through to unconditional offer, liaising with relevant managers, clinicians, and divisional medical staffing coordinators.
• To work alongside Medical HR to advise applicants on the pre-employment check standards and process.
• Responsible for identifying annual review requirements by providing guidance on portfolio prerequisites.
• Manage and partake in supernumerary periods and annual fellowship welcome events held at UHS including giving guidance about working in the UK and UHS sharing specialist knowledge.
• Act as the first point of contact for all performance issues relating to any Fellows.
• Manage and maintaining robust information on all fellowship doctors and their career development.
