We need the ideal candidate to have a keen eye for detail, be computer literate and be comfortable absorbing training to help maintain the production machines. You will have the ability to diagnose, repair and maintain multiple production machines. You will also hold qualifications in Mechanical and Electrical fields. The great news is that via the guidance of the fantastic on-site trainers the role can be learnt meaning if you are a reliable and driven individual looking for a stable role with avenues to progress its the perfect opportunity.

The Job

• Plan and perform scheduled preventative maintenance to reduce machine downtime
• Use methodical and efficient methods to identify faults and rectify
• Perform periodic maintenance inspection and tests to both equipment and the site
• Identify methods to improve machine reliability and production process
• Provide technical support and advice on machine operations
• Provide support and undertake maintenance of site facilities
• Undertake repair of breakdowns as and when they occur
• Assist with the setting of maintenance standards
• Comply with all standard operating procedures (SOPS), work instructions or procedures applicable to the role
• Ensure health and safety and environmental issues/guidelines are followed at all times
• Ensure clear communication is given to all relevant departments in a timely manner
• Communicate to the Production and Health & Safety Manager any progress on work to be carried out or that is complete
• Ensure that all maintenance records are kept up to date and are accurate
• Accurately manage stock levels of machine and consumable parts required
• Liaise with contractors and issue any permits to work
• Work with, supervise and develop any apprentices or new starters in training

About You

• Mechanical and electrical qualifications
• 17th Edition Wiring regulations
• Willingness to undertake training and continuous professional/personal development
• Strong knowledge of health and safety and Environment practices in the work place.
• Experience of engineering and maintenance
• Previous experience working within an optics or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to problem solve
• Ability to work both individually and as part of a team in a proactive and supporting manner
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and achieve targets
• Attention to detail
• Ability to take a pro-active approach
• Self motivated
