Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Performance and improvement directorate at NHSE Midlands for a locality cancer project manager working part of the regional Cancer Performance and Improvement Team supporting East Midlands and North Midlands ICS’s to improve cancer performance in line with national standards.
The post holder will work directly with ICS cancer managers to support the restoration and delivery of cancer care. The post will involve performance management of national cancer targets and support systems to review and improve cancer pathways.
The post holder will have a good background in project management and an understanding of national cancer targets.
The Post holder is has a key role in in the delivery of projects/programmes across the organisation’s business areas, ensuring that the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised.
Key Accountabilities
·Responsible for the delivery of specific projects agreed with NHS England and provide subject matter expertise around project management.
·Plans, supports and facilitates a range of projects within a programme structure or across a range of programme structures, where the post holder may need to consider interdependencies and mitigation of issues and risks.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Essential criteria for the role:
1. Proven track record (minimum 12 months experience) of delivering cancer performance and improvement projects (Performance and Transformation) including monitoring progress against Regional and National Ambitions.
2. Detailed understanding of cancer waiting time standards with strategic and operational experience of monitoring and interpreting CWT data.
3. Experience of producing cancer performance and improvement reports for regional and national audiences including representing the Region. Ability to deputise for Cancer Team senior managers (8c) in regional/national meetings
4. Experience of communicating and managing relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders in the cancer environment (for example ICBs, National Cancer Policy Team, Cancer Alliances and Regional teams).
