Summary

Are you passionate about supporting Dad’s (especially those who may be isolated, have been in care or criminal justice experienced) to access Parenting courses and other family services within Changing Futures North East and the wider community?

And / Or

Do you understand the joys and struggles of being a parent in a place like Hartlepool? Are you keen to help other parents achieve their goals, build friendships and build their skills? Are you able to build relationships and offer support for parents who may struggle to access support independently?
Are you keen to help the wider system better support and engage parents, particularly dads, who it doesn’t yet sufficiently meet the needs of via mechanisms including helping develop and deliver parenting courses.

If yes, this could be the perfect job for you.

Changing Futures North East is looking to employ hardworking and reliable people to be Family and Community Workers and deliver groupwork programmes such as “Being a Parent” to and with parents in Hartlepool. You will help CFNE deliver on a plan to engage Dad’s and other people who might not easily access parenting courses and wider services. You will join a relationship focused Charity that helps children, young people and families across Teesside.
This post is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. You will be employed by Changing Futures North East, a registered Charity, number 1089347.

Qualifications

Completed the Being A Parent Course Leader Training

Experience

Relevant experience of working or volunteering with either young people aged 16-15, Dad’s or parents
Desirable - 1-2 years substantial experience working with either young people aged 16-15, Dad’s or parents

Skills
• Computer literate (working with Microsoft Package)
• Good Time management
• Good Communicator

Knowledge
•Knowledge of Safeguarding
• Knowledge of needs of some ‘hard to reach’ groups and mechanisms to engage them and work effectively with them
• Systemic issues effecting parents, particularly in the local area



Work Related
• Ability to easily travel as part of your work –
• Willing to undertake and complete relevant training
• Willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends where needed
• Willing to work in people’s homes, as well as in public spaces and centres
