This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic and expanding WeLCoME Service, an MDT working with people with Long Covid and ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in City and Hackney. In this supportive setting you would gain the opportunity to build on both clinical and service development skills as well as those needed for multidisciplinary working.
The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and therapy for people with Long Covid and ME/CFS. This will involve helping patients to develop skills and strategies so that they can continue to do the things that are important to them in life even in the presence of the ongoing symptoms.
The post holder will offer advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team. A key part of the role will be to utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research and to contribute to teaching and training within the team and wider trust and locality.
The WeLCoME Service is therapy-led, and is a newly established collaboration between City & Hackney COVID Rehabilitation Service and the ME/CFS Service. This sits within the well-established therapy-led community outpatient Locomotor Service which houses integrated teams working within Persistent Pain and Physiotherapy.
• Provide specialist psychological assessments of patients referred to the WeLCoME Service
• Formulate and implement plans for thepsychological treatment and/or management of problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of those problems derived from a broad theoretical knowledge of psychology, employing evidence-based practice including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness approaches or Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
• Be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, families and groups within the WeLCoME Service, including psycho-education sessions, webinars and joint assessments within the MDT
• To develop and maintain good working relationships with the MDT in WeLCoME and to work closely with other psychologist therapists working across Locomotor services.
• To liaise with relevant others in the City and Hackney Psychological Therapies Alliance and members of other disciplines and agencies responsible for a client’s care
• To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of theWeLCoMEService,operationalpoliciesand services, through the deployment of professional skills in research, service evaluation and audit.
