Summary
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Contractual Submissions Working with the R&I Data Administrator/Performance Coordinator, ensure all necessary performance information is submitted, in an accurate and timely fashion, to bodies such as the DH and the CRN/NIHR, particularly that required for the National Institute for Health Research Performance in Initiation and Delivery of research (PID) reports Reviewing impact that national guidance will have on standard departmental information procedures and ensure any required changes in practice are implemented. To work with the Y&H CRN in implementing and developing appropriate processes for information management within LTHT. Work with partner organisations in the Y&H CRN to ensure streamlined processes and systems for data collection, data transfer and information management Information Processes Evaluate and analyse current information processes and redesign procedures for the capture of information on research. Ensure that the information collected meets national Department of Health requirements for Research Governance and the new R&I Support Funding mechanisms. Review and develop Standard Operating Procedures relating to information management with a view to streamlining communication and data flows between Trust departments and partner organisations, in particular, the University of Leeds and the Y&H CRN. Review research administration processes in order to automate and streamline the processes. Information Management Working with the Research Governance team, design, develop, implement and operate processes for the optimum management of health-related research information across the Trust. These processes will integrate closely with the requirements of the Y&H CRN and the University and will involve maintenance of research dashboards created using business intelligence software. Responsible for liaising with the database provider, EDGE, to ensure effective use of the EDGE database within the organisation. Takes the lead in advising the Director and R&I Management Team on strategy for the management of research information. Lead on the analysis and reporting of R&I department key information to support the operational management and strategic development of the department. R&I Information Systems Responsible for the development of the R&I research management database (EDGE) to ensure that it meets the requirements of the Department this database forms the basis for the compilation of regular submissions to the DoH and other contractual bodies. Lead on the design, development, implementation and maintenance of Trust-wide, research digital applications (such as the OneForm application), databases, spreadsheets and information systems, liaising with the Y&H CRN, the NIHR, the DoH, Trust information services, and parties external to the Trust; Evaluate any new database developments to ensure systems are robust and data integrity is not compromised. Provide support to planned developments to the Trusts Electronic Patient Record (EPR) in support of research delivery in the organisation and compatibility with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) guidance. This will include work towards integrating EDGE with the Trusts Electronic Health Record system, PPM+. Standard reports and data sets required by the department will be built into the research management systems/dashboards, however occasional one-off, bespoke reports will be required, and the post holder will undertake the design, and maintenance of these. To lead on design, development, and maintenance of any new software within Research & Innovation including the development, maintenance of internal user manuals and SOPs. To ensure that users within the R&I department and Trust are properly trained and able to use the research governance systems effectively. Digital Projects Designing and Implementing new digital solutions to help make research delivery more efficient, working with the R&I Manager (Real World Data). This will involve input to current and new digital change projects in support of the Research and Innovation department informatics strategy. Implementation of new approaches to patient cohort identification for research purposes, in support of more effective research feasibility processes. Data Quality Oversee the development and documentation of standard operating procedures for information processing within the R&I department. The post holder will be responsible for the quality of the data on the database and will design, implement, and maintain adequate processes for data validation. S/he will make judgements about data quality and design processes to redress any deficiencies. Supervise the relevant aspects of the work of the R&I administrative staff, ensuring that entry of research data into EDGE is performed accurately, in a timely fashion, and according to Departmental SOPs. Generally, ensure that R&I information is managed and processed to the highest operational standards, and standards of Information Governance and Data Protection, and in compliance with the policies of the NHS member organisations. Website Responsible for supporting the management of the R&I Departments website (working with the R&I Marketing and Communications Officer), ensuring that it is comprehensive, updated as necessary and responds to users needs.
