Thisis a10PApostforasubstantiveconsultant nephrologist.The postwillsupport the existinginnovativeclinical and academic programme in chronic kidney disease, community-based kidney care, renaltransplantationanddialysisacross theNorth Central Londonsector.
The post holder will provide a 1:9 nephrology on-call commitment,specialist clinicsat Hampstead siteandcare for a satellitedialysiscohort.In addition,the post includes virtual CKD triage,teaching and educational supervision,and full participation in the CPD activities of the department.An interest in renal tubular disease would be an advantage but is not essential.
The Royal Free is an established centre of excellence for nephrology and transplantation services and the development of these specialties is consistent with the strategic plans of both the Trust and the UCL Medical School. An expansion in the kidney care programme features asan important elementin the Royal Free’s integrated business plan and long-term financial model and in its development as one of the leading national transplant sites.
• Twospecialistclinics:one in chronic transplant and the other may vary according to the specialist interests of the appointee. An interest or willingness togain experience in tubular disease may be an advantage
• Care for a dialysis cohort of 40-50 patients including a weekly clinic and monthly MDT and ward round
• Provisionof virtual kidney care consultations
• A commitment to the 1:9consultant of the weeknephrology and renal transplanton callrota at the Royal Free Hospital.All routine clinic activity is cancelled during on-call duties
• Attendance at weekly X-ray meeting,renal pathology meeting and academic afternoon at RFH
• SupportofIPC and antimicrobial stewardship activities
• Supervision and training of specialty trainees, clinical scientists and othersas appropriate
• Undergraduate teaching programme
• Clinical audit and quality improvement
• Service development and policy review
• CPD and quality assurance activity including annual appraisal and revalidation
