Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a packaging company in the Ilkeston area. They are recruiting for a Lead Quality Technician to work in their office alongside their well-established team.

Our client are a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, medical, home, personal-care, and other products.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Lead Quality Technician to carry out release of product and Conduct weekly & monthly plant hygiene & pest audits to maintain BRC & AIB compliance. The role demands knowledge of a production environment with the emphasis on delivery of Positive release, inline with the inspection systems and laboratory testing output, derived from a team of Laboratory Technicians that is accurate and consistent.

Pay & Benefits

    • Starting Salary £30,000 per annum
    • 37.5 standard working week. Monday - Friday 8:30am - 17:00pm.
    • Pension is 4% EE and 8% ER contributions
    • 26 days Pro Rated (January - December)
    • Bonus Scheme depending on KPIs.

    Responsibilities

      • Conduct weekly & monthly plant hygiene & pest audits to maintain BRC & AIB compliance.
      • Support Site Quality Manager in monthly pest control plant hygiene & pest inspections.
      • Investigate internal & external non-conformances to ensure root causes are identified and have robust corrective actions implemented.
      • Investigate product quality to make improvements to achieve better customer satisfaction.
      • Monitor and analyse quality performance through statistics and process control.
      • Work with the laboratory technicians to ensure priorities are clear.
      • Investigating customer incidents

      Principal Accountabilities

      • Ensure all team co-workers are fully training to conduct their tasks, SWP & risk assessment are in place.
      • Conduct robust internal audits on the system & support external auditors
      • Ensure a system is in place and managed efficiently to address all INC’s daily, ensuring adequate analysis is conducted, decision taken on disposition & dispatch priority is agreed with all stake holders
      • Support the Site Quality Manager to ensure all ENC’s are efficiently addressed, providing adequate analysis & decision taken on disposition & dispatch priority is agreed with all stake holders.
      • Conduct assigned audits in line with the audit schedule

      Qualifications / Experience

        • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is essential.
        • Experience of conducting audits & evaluating results.
        • Medium level of SAP / Shop floor Systems / Microsoft Office Excel / Minitab
        • 6 Sigma training an advantage.
        • HACCP Training is an advantage.
        • Relevant Technical or Scientific higher qualification ideally BTEC HNC or equivalent.
