The role
As a Senior Plant Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll assist Babcock in supporting the MOD Nuclear Submarine provision by ensuring there are safe and compliant facilities in which to undertake maintenance and upkeep activities.

Day-to-day, you'll be key in supporting the nuclear and radiological safety of operations around the facilities and will interface with the production, design and technical teams to support implementation of engineering, process controls and safety cases.

  • You will be leading part of the team who are responsible for implementing the nuclear safety case requirements to operate the nuclear dock and associated facilities
  • You will be part of enabling the successful and safe delivery of work packages on site, ensuring that all necessary controls are in place upon release of nuclear safety significant evolutions, such as docking a submarine
  • You will be part of the team who are responsible for oversight and management of control of work, site operations, plant maintenance and routine facility demands
  • You will have the opportunity to support projects designing and installing new engineering and infrastructure, essential in supporting future nuclear facilities' capabilities

This role is full time. 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Plant Engineer

  • Ideally will have experience within high-hazardous industries (ideally nuclear facility industry, RAD-Waste, hazardous waste etc. oil and gas or other hazardous experience considered)
  • Experience of managing work in high hazard industries, change management and problem solving skills
  • Experience in team or stakeholder management, including direct reports and graduate engineers
  • Experience of implementing risk assessments or safety cases

Qualifications for the Senior Plant Engineer

  • Level 5 qualifications (HNC/HND) or other higher-level learning, plus experience
  • Level 6 STEM degree - Desirable

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
