Summary
We’re looking for someone who is ideally either a qualified EHO/EHP, preferably with considerable knowledge of health and safety regulation, or a graduate who is close to CIEH registration with a desire to be a Health & Safety EHO, or someone who is perhaps not a qualified EHO but has a health and safety qualification or significant health and safety experience.
For the right person who meets our requirements, we will offer a competitive salary, lots of experience, support regarding training and qualifications, and a really good work-life balance.
If you’re successful, you will be responsible for day-to-day delivery of health and safety regulatory work, within a team of professional and technical staff. You will be inspecting commercial premises to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and other legislative requirements. As part of the wider Community Protection Team, you will also be working with Officers who have responsibility for other elements of the Council’s joint enforcement approach. You will likely therefore also be required to provide resilience and inter-operability across several regulatory activities.
This is a great opportunity for a progressive and innovative individual who thrives when working as part of a busy team environment, and who is committed to driving the service forward in challenging times. We’re genuinely passionate about keeping people safe. We’re going to be tackling some challenging issues, through both education and robust enforcement, over the next few years to support this.
For an informal chat about this post, please contact Dave Dunbar, Principal Environmental Health Officer on (01422) 392330 before 6:00pm on Friday 23rd August.
