Summary


We are growing! We are looking for 2 more qualified Clinical Photographers to join our progressive Clinical Photography team, here in Wolverhampton.

We provide a comprehensive clinical illustration service to all specialities; surgery, medicine, dermatology, tissue viability, orthodontics, as well as diabetic retinal screening and ENT, plus any other clinical service. We are an important clinical support department providing a formal, emergency, on-call service to our clinical users.

In addition to a wide range of clinical services, the photography team also support our graphic design and animation teams with non-clinical photography and video services.

The diversity of the work means that whilst the department is busy, every day is different, offering a variety in work and the ability to learn new skills. Appropriate training for professional and personal development is encouraged and supported.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in photography, together with a post graduate certificate in Clinical Photography with a minimum of 6 months post qualification experience in medical photography. They should also have full professional membership of the Institute of Medical Illustrators and AHCS registration. Consideration will be given to newly qualified Clinical Photographers and appropriate training will be provided.





The post holder will be required toaccurately capture stills and video images of clinical conditions, both on the wards, in clinic and in the studio and capture clinical and non-clinical images for educational purposes and publication.

Whilst the successful candidate will be based at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, we also provide services at Walsall Health Care Trust, and The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trusts. You would be rostered to work on each of these sites and other sites, wherever the service is provided, so a full UK driving licence and own transport is essential.

The successful candidate will be required to participate in the emergency on-call rota, which is in place from 5pm to 8am, Monday to Friday, and all day weekends and Bank Holidays. In turn with the other Clinical Photographers, this equates to approximately one week in every 3 months, with standby and overtime payments.

You will use professional judgement and experience to interpret complex information from the clinical request form, provide clinicians with high quality clinical photographs and videos for all specialist areas such as orthodontics, maxillofacial, dermatology and plastic surgery. These images will be used for clinical assessment, patient records, teaching, publication and research.

The post holder will need to be able to communicate information concerning consent, confidentiality, distribution, copyright, and security, This will include having to accommodate patient’s views and preferences with regard to cultural and religious differences. You will provide advice and recommendations to medical staff to ensure that clinical conditions are recorded using the most appropriate photography views and techniques, so enabling satisfactory assessment of such clinical conditions.

If you have a degree in photography, can demonstrate an interest and passion to make a difference in health care, are looking for a challenging and rewarding career and are prepared to undertake a (funded) post graduate certificate in Clinical Photography your application will also be considered.

The successful candidate will have the following:
BSC in Medical Illustration or equivalent

Or:

A degree in photography plus a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Photography

And:
AHCS registered
An outstanding, current portfolio
Excellent Photoshop and IT skills
Excellent communication skills
Full UK driving licence and own transport
