We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated & dynamic individual to join the Breast team as a Breast Cancer Support Worker. We are looking for someone who is well organised, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously. You will have a genuine interest in Breast Cancer, be passionate & enthusiastic about patient care, putting patients at the heart of everything you do. You will be energetic, positive & hardworking & have an ability to work at pace, to multitask and to prioritise your work.

The Breast Cancer Support Worker will form an integral part of the Breast multidisciplinary team. You will draw on your experience & skills to effectively communicate with patients, Clinicians & peers to support the Breast care Nursing Team.

Ideally you will have previous experience of being an initial point of contact for patients, have the ability to use your initiative and manage your own workload with an appetite to learn & develop. You will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, be flexible in your approach with the ability to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism.

We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic person with a strong work ethic and an understanding of what it means to care for patients with Breast Cancer to join our well established Breast Cancer CNS Team.

The Breast Cancer CNS team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a forward-thinking, patient-focused team providing a high standard of care for patients diagnosed with breast cancer, embracing change to improve patient experience.

The CNS Team are an integral part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and work closely with medical/surgical colleagues, diagnostic services, inpatient and outpatient teams to provide a holistic and patient-centred service. The CNS team have strong links with Kent Oncology Centre & Breast Open Access Follow Up to ensure a streamlined pathway of care for patients.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, be resilient and resourceful, have experience in either a health or customer care background and be able to navigate IT systems.

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the CSW Induction Programme Lead if this is going to be problematic:rallen@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes 2 supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift), all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm
