Summary
This is an exciting role within the Quality, Safety, Sustainability & Innovation teamin the national nursing directorate aimedto maximise the contribution of nurses and midwives in delivering high quality, safe,effective,and person-centredcare.
Supportingthe nursing contribution to the delivery of the Long-Term Plans commitment to quality, patient safety strategy and improvement ambitions of the NHS, the Nurse Lead – Clinical Quality Improvementprogrammesunder theleadership anddirection of the Deputy Director – Patient Safety and Improvement, Nursing.
Ensuring safety, quality, person centredness and improvement are at the heart of any programmes of clinical quality improvement.
The role is fundamental to the success of NHSEngland’sobjectiveof supporting the system to build quality improvement science capability andcapacityin the clinical workforceand build a culture of continuous qualityimprovement.
Support the delivery of keyobjectiveand projects to ensure the successful delivery of strategic plans, within NHS England and the nursingQuality, Safety,Sustainability,and Innovation team.
The post holder will develop and nurture strong and respected working relationships with Trusts ensuring their focus on improving the clinical quality of services whilstmaintainingvalue for money.
The poster holder will:
• Support the Deputy Director of Safety & Improvement.
• Contribute to the scoping, design, development, delivery, and evaluation of nationalprogrammesofwork to embed quality improvement and patient safety at the heart of nursing practice.
• Working within the overall strategicobjectives, devise, implement andmonitorthe strategy. Evaluate, interpret, and locally implement best practice.
• Work with the wider NHSE policy teams and key partners such as the Royal Colleges, to support the delivery development of our work programme.
• Research, prepare papers, and background materials to support programme delivery, related working groups/committees.
• Develop and implement qualitative and quantitative measures todetermineperformance againstrelated national nursing related priorities and programs of work.
• Oversee the tracking of progress against plans and transition milestones, ensuringappropriate processesare in place to flag issues,risks,and concerns with the relevant stakeholders.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
• Contributionto the scoping, design, development, delivery, and evaluation of nationalprogrammesof work to embed quality improvement and patient safety at the heart of nursing practice.
• Providing senior nursing knowledge and subject matterexpertiseacross several key areas relating to improving quality and safety in nursing practice and the delivery of high quality and safe patient care across the system.
• Provide professional nursing/midwifery improvementexpertiseand advice in the delivery of high quality, safe, effective, and person-centred careto ensure that best practice is developed;engaging with key stakeholders on a range of issues/areas of practice related to the development of the national nursing and midwifery strategic priorities
