Summary
Working with a dedicated and experienced team of teachers and teaching assistants, the post holder will develop and co-ordinate inclusion advice and support for early years settings and schools. A key driver for Cheshire West Council is to support the inclusion of children with Special Educational Needs in their local mainstream schools and settings. The role encompasses all aspects of leading service development, early years and specialist initiatives and provision of support and guidance for staff through professional supervision and appraisal.
The successful applicant will be an experienced early years practitioner with a proven track record of delivering outstanding practice, innovative thinking and a proactive approach to problem solving. The role requires QTS, SEN experience and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
This is an exciting opportunity to become the Lead Teacher for the Early Years Specialist Teaching service within CWAC. This is a pivotal role within the CWAC SEN Team. Demand and complexity of need in the Early Years cohort has grown nationally. As a local area, Cheshire West is committed to supporting highly inclusive practice across the Early Years sector.
The successful candidate must have a strong record of practice within the Early Years. An effective communicator with colleagues, families and across a range of services, you will demonstrate a commitment to achieving the highest standards. This is an opportunity to shape the strategic delivery and direction of Early Years inclusion across the borough.
The role requires proactive case management across the team, including flexibility of service model and delivery to ensure that the team operates efficiently and supports achieving the best outcomes for children and families. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the relevant legislation and legal framework surrounding SEN and specifically the importance of the graduated approach.
The role requires: direct performance management of specialist teachers, who also manage specialist support assistants, responsibility for the EYSTS team, regular compilation and reporting of service level performance data, direct work with settings, children and families, multi-agency working, development of policy and strategy with senior managers, delivery of training, including AET accredited training and bespoke packages.
Grade is Teacher’s Pay and Conditions + SEN2 + TLR2
