Summary

We are seeking a committed and highly motivated individual to fill a part-time vacancy for an Information Librarian within the Academic Services section of the University of Bath Library. Although supporting all areas of Academic Services work, this position is currently based primarily within the Library's Science Subject Team.

As an Information Librarian you will be responsible for answering information and resource related enquiries from library users at all levels, through our online enquiry management service, in person and through other online tools. You will assist Faculty and Subject Librarians in preparing and delivering library induction and information skills teaching, for online and in-person delivery, and on occasion will design, plan and deliver training sessions yourself. In addition, you will support the Faculty and Subject Librarians in all areas of collection development, management and promotion, and provide advice and guidance to teaching staff on creation of reading lists. You will assist in preparation of library guidance, instructional and publicity materials, using a variety of formats and media.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Library, participate in task and finish and special interest groups, and on occasion deputise for Subject and Faculty Librarians at academic department meetings. You should be innovative and collaborative in your work, with excellent communication skills and good attention to detail.

About us

The successful candidate will join a dedicated, professional team of Library staff committed to the continual development of services to support the University’s mission: to deliver world-class research and teaching, educate our students to become future leaders and innovators, and benefit the wider population through the University’s research, enterprise and influence. We understand the importance of continued professional development for all Library staff in order to achieve this, and provide programmes of local opportunities, and support involvement in appropriate external activities.

Further information

This is a part-time position, working 14.6 hours (0.4 fte) per week on Thursdays and Fridays.

You should have a CILIP accredited qualification in librarianship or information studies or equivalent, to at the least degree level, or clear commitment to completion if not yet awarded.
