Chesterfield Borough Council are looking to appoint a temporary commercial solicitor to our property, procurement and contracts law team for 6 to 9 months.

The team provides legal advice and drafts documentation on a wide variety of property, regeneration and procurement contracts. We are seeking a candidate who can demonstrate experience in either one or all of the three areas.

The post holder could play a key role in securing income generation for the council, this includes income streams from completing letting of the council’s industrial and out of town centre offices properties (360 properties) and its town centre portfolio of retail shops and offices (230 units). Contributing to achieving receipt of an annual rent role of approximately £4.5 million. Timely completion of legal documentation is required to ensure income streams are brought on board at the earliest opportunity.

The successful candidate will provide legal advice and assistance on significant transactions in relation to landlord and tenant and other property matters including securing capital income by completing sales of land and premises.

The council has a strong proven track record of delivering and assisting ambitious regeneration projects. There is scope for the post holder to provide legal advice on such issues for regeneration of the borough including capital projects.
