This Geospatial Network Records Site Surveyor will report to the GIS Delivery Lead and will work within the Geospatial Network Records / Information Systems / Finance, Customer Service & Technology directorate based in our London, Bengeworth Road office. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary of £41,536.00 and a bonus of 3%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

Job Purpose

The Geospatial Network Records Site Surveyor will be accountable for the information recorded on site of alterations, additions or removal of assets on the Network. The information will be recorded on the Workflow tool and validated for capture on our Smallworld Geographic Information System (GIS) named NetMAP and associated systems.

The information must meet required standards and those procedures followed to meet quality and accuracy of updates across our asset systems.

To maintain NetMAP and associated systems ensuring that data on the systems conforms to documented requirements and is captured following the relevant data capture specification. Keeping this up to date to guarantee an accurate geographic record of our electrical assets to the required operational, safety, regulatory and statutory requirements

Dimensions

You will be part of the Geospatial Network Records Team but working with two others to cover the LPN Area attending site to record Network changes.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Faults / LV/HV and EHV site recording covering major projects / complex work in the field
  • Perform site surveys for the Geospatial Network Records Team
  • Attend contractor meetings and provide guidance on drawing standards
  • General drawings in AutoCAD (LPN only for EHV Records)
  • Provide training to field staff and contractors in site recording techniques
  • Undertake the recording of complex EHV jobs on NetMAP and EHV Strip Records
  • Communicate with customers
  • Ensure that surveying, travelling and office-based activity is conducted in a safe, professional manner
  • Maintain NetMAP and associated systems up to date to reflect all changes to the electrical network and associated geographic mapping
  • Correctly interpret and collate field data. Assess field work for accuracy and completeness before undertaking processing into NetMAP and associated systems within prescribed time limits

The Geospatial Network Records / Information Systems / Finance, Customer Service & Technology function develops investment plans and programmes to improve the performance and maintain the condition of a regulated asset base across a network serving 8 million customers.

Enterprise Data Management is a combination of data about our physical assets, used to inform decisions about how they are managed, both for short-term operational purposes and for long term strategic planning. The Enterprise Data Management function determines information requirements within an asset management context, how it should be collected, stored and analysed, and communicated both internally and externally to our partners and regulator.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Site Recording, Surveying Techniques and be able to produce Site Drawings.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in drafting techniques or subjects, e.g. GIS, Cartography Surveying, Art or Design
  • Schedule own time daily by planning of efficient daily route for undertaking surveys to deliver exceptionally tight turn-around as laid records.
  • Awareness of health, safety and environmental requirements, both in putting oneself to work and in identifying important issues during surveying
  • Formal street works training & qualifications is expected (e.g. CSCS card)
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
  • Motivated and ability to use own initiative
  • Full UK Driving Licence as the role involves travel to sites
  • A practical understanding of the electricity distribution network, plant & equipment at all voltages
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft desktop applications, including, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good general education - to GCSE standard
  • An understanding of GE Smallworld (NetMAP) or similar proprietary GIS systems with a basic understanding of GIS concepts and spatial data.
  • GIS data capture, the network records and business rules associated with updating NetMAP
  • Proficient in AutoCAD to update the EHV drawings
  • The ability to collaborate with all partners.
  • Comprehension of Company Policies, Regulatory Policies and Procedures.
  • Full training will be given to suitable candidates.
