Summary
We are excited to present the opportunity for 2 Band 6 dietitians to join the Homerton Bariatric Service. The successful candidates will be joining a vibrant MDT consisting of dietitians, physiotherapists, psychologists, surgeons, and speciality doctors who work together to provide a compassionate service supporting patients towards sustainable weight management goals. Within our team, you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills in behaviour change, complex weight management, audit, MDT working, delivering patient education groups and assessing patients for disordered eating. Our team provides excellent opportunities for career progression including working towards supplementary prescribing at a senior level alongside our chemical pathologist and other senior MDT colleagues. Both roles are based at the Homerton Hospital in the Hackney and are potentially suitable for hybrid working.

1. Provide specialist dietetic input for patients pre- and post- bariatric surgery, managing a specialised clinical caseload and carry out complicated assessment, diagnosis, management and treatment of patients within this specialty
2. Undertake structured multidisciplinary outpatient assessment, preparing for surgery and follow up clinics for patients referred to the service
3. Update a range of databases with patient information and manage electronic patient records
4. Deliver group education sessions for patients before and after bariatric surgery including facilitation of patient support groups
5. Liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure high standards of care including attending and contributing to bariatric multidisciplinary meetings
6. Provide telephone and email support for patients before and after bariatric surgery
7. Be able to work with patients in person, over online platforms, and via telephone
8. Develop evidence based patient information, clinical policies and guidelines and contribute to service developments and audits
9. Develop, implement and evaluate teaching programmes for patients, nurses and other health care professionals
10. Provide clinical supervision and support for dietetic students and team assistants
11. Work flexibly and provide cover to dietetic colleagues across the obesity care pathway within the Tier 3 and bariatric services as required
