Summary
Part Time 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional out of hours work for alarm call outs.
Temporary in the first instance.Split Site, primarily based in Port Talbot (Theodore Road and Velindre Sites) but will be required for occasional work and cover in Bryncoch.To start as soon as possible, the Governing Body of Ysgol Hendrefelin wish to appoint a responsible, caring, reliable person to fulfil the role of a part-time Assistant Caretaker at the Theodore Road and Velindre sites of Ysgol Hendrefelin. This role is temporary in the first instance with the view of becoming permanent for the right candidate. Ysgol Hendrefelin is a split site school, this position will primarily be based in Port Talbot covering two sites, however the successful candidate will also be expected to work and cover the Bryncoch site as and when required. The successful candidate will be responsible for the opening and closing of the school as the main key holder. This role also involves testing of alarms, general maintenance, ensuring pathways and entrances to the school are clear of snow and ice in increment weather and other debris during the year, keeping the yard clear of litter and debris, completing basic checks of the school mini-buses and meeting with external contractors to give information and location of outsourced maintenance jobs. The 20 hours allocated to this post will be carried out Monday to Friday under a split shift rota, before and after the school day. In addition, you may be called upon outside of these hours should the alarm go off. Any additional hours worked due to alarm call outs etc will be paid via overtime. The Governors will be seeking the following skills/personal qualities. • Enthusiasm, self-motivation and the ability to take the initiative to deal with problems as they arise. • Practical skills and a pride in high quality work. • Good interpersonal skills with adults and children. • An understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures would be an advantage, but is not essential as training will be provided. • Someone who take pride in their work.
