Hours Per Week: 22.20
Pay Rate: £13.69 PAYE / £17.72 Umbrella/Ltd
Duration: 19th August 2024 - 31st March 2025
Job Overview:
Neway is seeking an experienced Builder to join our team on a part-time basis, representing Somerset Council. This role is vital in ensuring that over 5,600 council properties, including tenanted homes, communal areas, and empty properties, are maintained to the highest standards. Your work will help ensure compliance with statutory regulations and contribute to the well-being of the community by addressing critical repairs, including damp and mould issues as specified in the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of building repairs and maintenance tasks, including masonry, stonework, brickwork, plastering, and repairs to concrete surfaces.
Address and resolve issues related to damp and mould using appropriate treatment methods such as damp-proofing, tanking systems, and DPC injection.
Conduct minor plumbing, carpentry, tiling, and painting tasks as needed to maintain properties to a high standard.
Plan and manage your workload to complete repairs within prescribed timescales, ensuring that all tasks are done right the first time to avoid follow-up visits.
Work collaboratively with other trade teams, supervisors, and contractors to ensure seamless service delivery.
Engage with tenants to provide information and support, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience as a Builder with a strong understanding of building regulations and standards, especially in a residential context.
Relevant qualifications in the built environment or construction, such as BTEC or equivalent Level 2, or equivalent experience.
Ability to carry out a wide range of building repairs, including plastering, masonry, and minor carpentry and plumbing work.
Knowledge of health and safety legislation and the ability to apply this in a practical context.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Why Join Us?
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a community-focused project while working with a supportive and professional team. Your work will have a direct impact on the lives of residents, ensuring their homes are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with regulations.
