The Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for the Adult In-patient Eating Disorders Ward - Avalon Ward, Springfield University Hospital. This is an established post.The vacancy has arisen as a result ofthe current postholder re-locating.
This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic consultant psychiatrist to join thiswell-established in-patient eating disorders unit, with well- functioning MDT, with good national and international reputation.
The appointed Consultant will provide overall clinical responsibility for the inpatient assessment, care and treatment of adults on Avalon ward. As such, this post holder will need to be able to support effective team functioning and will also be required to work with a part-time Consultant colleague, the team and the directorate, in service development initiatives.
The aim of this post is to ensure the team delivers a high quality and innovative service, to develop new treatment ideas in keeping with current evidence, to continually evaluate the treatment and to work nationally towards improvement of services for patients with eating disorders.
The appointed Consultant will have ample opportunities to engage in work and initiatives within South London Provider Collaborative and in training opportunities, as well as in teaching of students and trainees.

The post-holder will provide medical leadership to the in-patient MDT and will work closely with the Ward Manager to ensure a safe, efficient and effective service that meets the Trust’s Key Performance Indicators.
While individual clinicians within the team have responsibility for the clinical care they deliver, the consultant shares with the team manager and other team members responsibility for ensuring the care delivered by the team is safe and of a good standard. This includes participating in systems of audit and clinical governance, working to resolve problems on their own initiative, and where necessary drawing any concerns they have been unable to resolve themselves to the attention of the team manager and senior managers.
