Summary
East Coast Day Unit and Preassessment Band 6
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to be appointed in a secondment role of a band 6 within our elective surgery units and preassessment on the East Coast. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills who can adapt and work closely within a team. Successful candidates must have over 2 years of Day Surgery experience, possess sound knowledge of the preassesment process, be knowledgeable of BADS and GIRFT requirements and be able to travel to cover both Scarborough and Bridlington day units.
Duties will be varied and will include supporting the East Coast preassessment team, day unit admissions, pre and post theatre care with prompt, yet safe discharge in the nurse-led unit. The majority of procedures are planned day cases however a small number are for overnight admissions as we recovery from COVID-19 and our elective recovery programme.

We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 6 to complement our existing team. The elective surgical units support a wide variety of surgical disciplines including general surgery, urology, ENT, max-fax, chronic pain services, orthopaedic trauma and gynaecology and work closely with the preassessment team, surgical teams, anaesthetic teams, theatres and surgical wards.
The successful candidate will be expected to be oversee the day to day running of units, support the East Coast Preassessment nursing team and adapt the daily workload to accommodate acute patients.
You must have good organisational skills, be self-motivated and flexible. You will be expected to promote the trust values and strive to be the best in all areas of practice.
