We are seeking to appoint a skilled and focused Deputy Lead for Positive Behaviour Support. We are working towards a whole college culture of trauma informed positive behaviour support for all of our learners.
We are a thriving specialist post-16 college, with 5 locations across North West England. Our learners vary from being verbal communicators, with long term health conditions who need to feel heard, listened to and understood as young adults, to those who have a diagnosis of complex autism and are non verbal.
You will be an experienced PBSP seeking a role in dedicated practice leadership, training and support. You will be flexible, taking into account the needs of residential students at Lancaster as well as those at other locations in the NW.
You will work with a team of PBSP,s and PBM Pro Train the Trainers and help the college embed a culture that operates with dignity and respect at all times.

About The Role
Location: Lancaster
Hours: 40 hours per week
The main site is located in Lancaster and offers students opportunities to attend as Day Students or as Residential Students. Residents can be 52 weeks (full year), or term time only, and residential options include 4 nights, 5 nights or 7 nights. There are also currently 4 college locations in the North West of England providing day places in addition to main site.
Day students attend Term Time with term dates published annually often reflecting the schools in the local area. Deputy Managers will each lead and manage a designated service, its service users and staff teams. This includes pre-assessment processes, overnight assessments, transition in for new entrants and transition out for graduates.
We a values driven and we foster an ethos of trauma informed positive behaviour. We are seeking a Positive Behaviour Practitioners Lead and Deputy to join the team on the next stage of our journey.
Many of our students have Positive Behaviour Support Plans, which are developed using a robust evidence base. Preferred strategies focus on de-escalation and redirection; we foster a no intervention culture, and where intervention is used, it focusses on redirection. Incidents are logged as they occur, and the Managers' Meeting reviews those incidents daily to establish what went well, what could have been avoided, and what additional training or awareness staff might need.
Job Responsibilities:

- Demonstrating exceptional practice leadership practitioners will support the skills and knowledge development of support staff through training, modelling and guidance
- Be responsible for own professional development, ensuring practice and knowledge underpins the trauma information positive behaviour culture in development
- Attend Morning Meetings and play an active role in evaluating behavioural incidents, the response provided and where necessary evaluate trends and themes with a detailed behaviour analysis which informs revised PBS plans and person-centred staff training
- Organise and manage PBS meetings and engage in as well as contribute to the vision for the college through well planned training, development, reflective proactive and continual improvement model
- Lead, manage and contribute to: functional assessments, transition planning and support, service debriefs as required.
- Ensure effective partnership working around the learner that supports PBS implementation within individual services and the wider group. Identifying any operational barriers and supportive solutions to overcome this.
- Participate in effective team working and the development of productive working relationships. Ensure communication is effective, respectful, professional and clear, allowing you to communicate with the people you support as well as families, professionals, and our colleagues to achieve positive outcomes for the people we provide support to.
- Lead on an annual review at student level, as well as site and whole college to make recommendations for next steps, and evaluate the effectiveness of the service in its support for learners
- Complement and support a team of PBSPs and PBM Pro colleagues across all sites of the college
- Develop and deliver awareness raising and practice leadership sessions to teams around the student to ensure high standards of professional practice at the learner interface
- Support teams to have the knowledge, behaviours and skills to deliver high quality continuing education and development for the service users, ensure that it is well documented within support plans and being effectively delivered.
- Work with communication, technology and physical therapists to ensure the access and communication requirements of each learner to ensure learners are heard, listened to and understood.
- Demonstrate the ability to complete behaviour assessment tools and write reports relating to behaviour to a high standard.

- Hold a UK recognised formal qualification in Positive Behaviour Support i.e., BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis, MA or MSc in Autism Studies, PBS Graduate Diploma
- Experience and knowledge of working with people with a learning disability, autism and challenging behaviour
- Significant experience in a practical and complex environment as a Positive Behaviour Practitioner
- Understand legal frameworks relevant to the role, e.g., Children and Families Act, Mental Capacity Act (2005), DOLS, Reducing the Need for Restraint and Physical Intervention
- Be aware of the context of CQC and Ofsted regulatory and inspection frameworks and PBS

- Able to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills
Demonstrate an understanding of regulatory requirements, legislative and compliance requirements - Excellent communicator, both verbally and written
- Strong statistical ability to be able to translate and analyze complex data
- Effective conflict and resolution management skills
- Reliable and trustworthy; able to work on own initiative; able to work under pressure, maintaining a calm and professional persona

- Be aware of own limitations. Be flexible and adaptable
Excellent IT skills and confident in using computer system - Driving License and access to a car
