Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative individual to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Critical Care Directorate to support the expansion and delivery of the ACCP service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of Critical Care Directorate dedicated to excellence in patient care, research and education.
As a qualified Advanced Critical Care Practitioner (ACCP), you will be an integral part of a consultant-led, multi-professional critical care service. You will work closely with the medical team and report directly to the on-call Consultant Intensivist. Your role will involve a balanced split of clinical and non-clinical responsibilities, ensuring comprehensive patient care and contributing to the continuous improvement of our services.
You will work across our three hospital sites, reporting to Consultant Leads, the ACCP Trust Lead, and Hospital Directors. You will co-develop strategic education and workforce plans to support the overall vision for ACCPs, providing operational leadership for a portfolio of strategic education and workforce projects and transformation schemes across the sites.
The role will have delegated responsibility for developing a comprehensive workforce education, development and retention strategy.
The post holder will be responsible for managing an increasingly complex workforce and education environment, as well as the delivery of a safe and effective workforce which is skilled and resilient.
The post holder will enable a sustainable and affordable workforce through effective role redesign, skill mix and creative use of new, extended and advanced roles.
The post holder will work closely with the Trust’s corporate workforce and education team, working collaboratively to develop a short, medium and long term vision for education and the workforce within critical care.
To be a highly visible, proactive and accessible leader for the ACCP workforce, acting as a clinical resource and assuring the sustained delivery of high standards of care and service delivery, to the multidisciplinary team, patients and the public.
The post holder will be a lead advisory role in ensuring that practice development activity and educational strategy and resource utilisation for critical care support the Trust’s clinical strategic objectives in the future development of critical care services at GSTT.

Scope the education and development investment required for the proposed workforce models and new roles and engage with the corporate workforce and education team on education commissioning plans to secure recruitment pipeline.
Support and lead on education and training improvement strategy’s or changes across critical care driving forward service improvement, trainee satisfaction, enhancing patient experience and safety.
Evaluation of the cost effectiveness of a standardised ACCP training and development program.
Seek and identify best practice (national and international) in key areas of Intensive care medicine which with improve ACCP training and education within critical care.
Ensure that best practice, expert knowledge and educational opportunities are made available to both registered ACCPs and trainees, and where appropriate extend to multi-professional workforce.
Take a lead in reviewing clinical practice and scope of responsibilities as part of a multidisciplinary team in the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of patients.
