Apprentice Salary - £12,348
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is seeking applications from individuals for the role of temporary Apprentice ICT Technician within the ICT Department based at Service Headquarters, Carmarthen.
This is a 2-year apprentice.
The Role
This role that could see you working in one or more of the following IT Teams – ICT Operational Systems, ICT Business Systems, ICT Solutions or helping within ICT Security. Although the primary role for this post will be in the ICT Operational Systems team, there will be a requirement to work within the other teams on a temporary or permanent basis to support your apprenticeship and give you practical skills in line with your academic learning.
You are required to be a confident self-starter, with an enjoyment, skill and desire to learn about all aspects of technology and ICT hardware and software.
The role will assist the Service ICT technicians and other ICT department staff with the a wide range of ICT tasks, such as
Administering Helpdesk tickets to resolve or assign as needed
Windows PC and laptop setup and configuration using industry standard tools
Assist with on-site cabling and ICT set up at Service locations
Categorising, recording and testing ICT equipment for re-use or disposal
Giving advice and guidance for ICT related issues
Assisting ICT technicians with their tasks as required

Delivering ICT to these areas may require some travel. A full driving licence is therefore essential as well as having your own vehicle (although pool cars are available for most travel).
