Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of our Mechanical and Electrical teams in the UK’s biggest environmental organisation. We manage flood risk assets across the UK to ensure they protect our communities from the risk of flooding.

We have a Technical Administration position within our Field MEICA Team (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, Automation) covering Essex.

In East Anglia we want to create a diverse workplace where people are respected, valued and listened to. We’re all different, and by embracing Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) we can become an equal opportunity employer where jointly we all grow and learn together.

It is our ambition to champion diversity through building a workforce as diverse as the communities we serve.

In this role you will provide technical support to our Mechanical and Electrical teams, as well as our Incident Response Co-ordinators. You will complete work orders, help manage our asset data, undertake utilities searches, support with our incident response work, and provide general administration support to our team within Field MEICA/Operations. It is a wide-ranging and varied role.

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are willing to learn new skills, with full training and support given. This role will give you great exposure to many aspects of Operations within the organisation and will be a fantastic development opportunity.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate. Please see the candidate pack for more on how you will support with this.

Everyone starting in a new role will be welcomed into the team and given all the training and support needed. As part of your comprehensive induction, you will be provided with all the equipment required for your role.
The team
You'll report to the MEICA Team Leader for Essex, and be predominantly responsible for the Essex/South Suffolk area.

The team, within Local Operations, consists of both electrical and mechanical engineers who are responsible for MEICA maintenance on a range of FCRM assets including major flood barriers, pumping stations and river control structures. The team also provides incident response support for the area, attending breakdowns of MEICA assets and operating the areas CAT A flood barriers.
Experience/skills required
Essential:
• Enthusiastic with a willingness to learn new skills
• Able to work independently, plan your own time and priorities but also be a team player
• Able to communicate well across your own team and the various teams that we interact with
• Good IT skills, able to use MS packages and be able to learn EA internal systems
• This is a new role within our team and we would like someone who is willing to develop and grow the role to its fullest potential.

It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:
• General Admin experience
• Flood risk asset management knowledge but not essential as all training provided

Whilst a driving licence is not essential for this role, there will be a requirement to travel to other offices to support teams, visit sites to gather information, and to undertake training.
