Summary
Join us as a Strategy Manager
- As a key member of our retail strategy team within the chief operating office, you’ll be leading in developing the strategy, narrative and business plan for the franchise and internal customer business areas
- You’ll be leading the development of strategy, purpose and customer propositions to enhance our customer experience and drive sustainable growth
- This is a great opportunity to develop a wide network and strong relationships with the senior executive team across the retail franchise and the wider bank, as you’ll be joining a collaborative and supportive work environment
What you'll do
As a Strategy Manager, you’ll be leading the development of strategic narratives, plans, projects and the associated problem solving and presentation of analysis and solutions. You’ll prepare reports and presentations for an executive and board audience. You’ll provide recommendations on a range of strategic themes including businesses performance, competitor activity, potential business opportunities and customer behaviours.
You’ll also:
- Lead work to establish the development of the function’s strategic direction, developing your team and creating virtual teams to develop and drive strategies to improve the function’s performance
- Lead work which will support development of purpose, customer propositions, distribution and analytical solutions to enhance customer acquisition and balance sheet growth
The skills you'll need
You’ll need a strong academic record in a numerate, business or quantitative discipline, ideally an MBA, or a proven record of converting data and research into a fact base for strategic content.
You should also have strong analytical skills and the ability to simplify complex tasks, ensuring that these are effectively managed and communicated.
You’ll also need:
- A good understanding of how the bank operates and the wider financial services industry, especially the UK retail banking market
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and external stakeholders
- People management skills with the ability to coach and motivate a high performing team
- A strong ability to synthesise analysis into PowerPoint slide form
- A positive attitude to learning new concepts and solving problems pragmatically
- To be a confident communicator with ability to synthesise complex issues very simply
- A background in financial services, consultancy, or industry specific strategic development
- To enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
