Your role is all about making our cafes a thriving place people want to attend. You will bring your energy, enthusiasm ensure it
runs smoothly day to day, delivering to our high standards for service and compliance at all times. It’s an integral role that
ensures our cafe is a space wellbeing and learning at all times and an integral part of our wider offer. You’ll be a driving force
in making sure our cafes cover their costs and generate a wider impact for the service. You’ll work across all teams so are a
great relationship builder and are not afraid to try something different in order to succeed.

This role is working Monday - Wednesday 0900 -1400

As a Café Worker, a typical day might include:

* Supporting the day to day running of the café and its services, offering a great service, affordable products, and a space for
people to enjoy.
* Delivering on any of the key cafe tasks end to end, from sourcing and buying supplies, preparing food, baking, promotion, sales
and customer service, serving, cash handling, cashing up, banking, stock checks, end of day clean, and reconciliation and sales
reporting.
* Ensuring the café meets our sales and recruitment targets for income, volunteers, learners and attendees.
* Exploring new ideas to grow the café provision ensuring it is commercially viable and meets the needs of the local community.
* Support the development of the menu with a focus on affordable, fresh and healthy eating, activities with a focus on wellness
and engagement plans for the café, ensuring it maximises attendance and links with the wider programme offer.
* Being our shop window to the rest of our hub - promoting our wider service to all café customers, working with the engagement
team to sign up to programmes or activities.
* Preparing food and drinks in line with all regulations and standards, including Barista coffee, always delivering to excellent
levels of food and hygiene standards.
* Support volunteers and learners in the café to learn café skills to develop confidence, skills and qualifications to help them
reach their potential.
* Coordinating and organising events, workshops, drop-ins and activities in the café to increase opportunities to cross-sell our
services, attract income through sales in the café and sign ups for activities and learning. Targeting activities that serve
our customer groups on other programmes across our wider learning hub.




The must haves:

* Experience working in a catering or hospitality setting
* Enjoys and capable in basic cookery skills (and willing to develop skills further)

* Basic cooking skills, and willingness to learn more
* Qualified in a relevant subject or occupational area to at least Level 2
* Food Safety to at least L2, or willing to gain quickly
* Awareness of the processes and procedures required to maintain a high level of food safety and hygiene
* Ability to work as a team, under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
* A genuine commitment to the personal and occupational success of the long term unemployed
* You’re a positive, energised and enthusiastic person, with a real zest for helping others
* Proven ability at developing great working relationships with others.
* Strong communication and sales skills – you are the face of our hubs and need to promote us
* Basic Maths skills to deal with simple budgeting and cash banking processes
* Resilience. Working in the education, support and employment sectors is a challenging but rewarding career. You’ll be helping
to bring real change to peoples’ lives.

* Any level or experience in a support role or in Information, Advice and Guidance

* You’ll love to work in front line services – and have experience evidencing this
* You’re a dab hand at baking, cooking and can get the ingredients at a value for money price too with your negotiation skills

and have some skills to offer in this area
