Location: Full Sutton, York
Salary: £36,540 per annum
Contract: Full-time
Hours: 42 hours per week


Are you ready to make a difference? Join Mitie Care & Custody as a Prison Custody Officer at the brand-new HMP Millsike, where you will play a key role in creating a safe, rehabilitative environment for prisoners.

As an PCO, you will:

Manage entry and release of prisoners.Respond to emergencies, inspect facilities, cell searches.Oversee prisoners' activities, ensuring their safety and security.Support prisoners with their physical and mental health needs, preparing them for release.Adhere to Health & Safety policies, perform security checks, and maintain high standards.Use a trauma-informed approach to support recovery and rehabilitation.Build professional relationships and communicate clearly with prisoners, staff, and visitors.

What you will need:

Preferably experience in a custodial / secure environment.Basic-intermediate IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience updating central data systems.Compassion, integrity, respect, and the ability to work in a dynamic, challenging environment.
