Would you love to work within a team of data visualisation specialists, designers and data journalists?

Would you thrive in developing ideas into stories?

Can you create high quality and engaging digital content to help us to tell the important stories with our data?

If so, this could be the perfect role for you.

The ONS produces the numbers that matter – from economic data like the employment rate and size of the economy to population figures, migration statistics and measurements of our wellbeing.

Our ambition is to help inform the UK on the issues that matter, and we cover a range of topics including the impact rising cost of living has on people’s lives, the health of local communities, and the impact education has on life-chances.

As part of our Digital Publishing team and working with statisticians, economists and researchers, you’ll use ONS statistics and data to create world-class content that answers users’ most pressing questions.

You've got experience translating data so it can be understood clearly, and as such you can demonstrate skills producing data visualisations using tools such as JavaScript/D3, R or Python. You know how to collect, collate, cleanse and prepare data using best practise. Furthermore, you know the value of understanding your user/audience, and can tailor your visualisations to them.

In addition, you can manage projects effectively (including leading teams and prioritising work), and can collaborate well with others - direct colleagues and external stakeholders alike.
